Novi and the 52-1 District Court
Incorporated in 1969, the City of Novi is located in southwestern Oakland County and is home to 55,224 people. The 31.3 square miles of land border Northville, Farmington Hills, Lyon Township and Wixom. A common misconception lies in the origin of Novi. Many believe it was the sixth toll gate on the Grand River toll road. However the toll road wasn’t created until after the city was named.
Landmarks
The City of Novi contains an extensive shopping mall, known as Twelve Oaks. The mall has over 180 stores, and was developed by well-known architect A. Alfred Taubman in 1977. Twelve Oaks is located at 27500 Novi Road, which is directly north of I-96. Another destination for people in Novi is the Suburban Collection Showplace, which is located near Twelve Oaks Mall. The space is used for a variety of shows, including Michigan International Women’s Show, Motor City Comic Con as well as high school proms and weddings.
