Royal Oak and the 44th District Court

Located in the Southeast Corner of Oakland County, south of Troy and west of Madison Heights, is the City of Royal Oak. Rich with history and diversity, Royal Oak is a city of 60,000 people that was originally incorporated in 1891. Known for being eclectic, many unique shops, specialty foods, and boutique nightlife locations are in Royal Oak. It is home to the Royal Oak Music Theater and the Landmark Main Art Theater, which plays primarily independent films. Some of the city’s popular dining locations include Comet Burger, the Town Tavern, Bastone, Oak City Grill, Ronin, and the Red Coat Tavern. The town is also known for its annual Arts, Beats, and Eats food and music festival. Interestingly, the City has become a bastion for motorcycle enthusiasts, as they converge on Royal Oak weekly. Royal Oak was also the locale of the popular 90’s sitcom, Home Improvement. It was also once home to Spiderman director Sam Raimi. For those travelling by train, Royal Oak is an entry point to Michigan as Amtrak has a hub that runs daily to and from Chicago, Illinois. Additionally, the city offers access to I-75 and 696. Further, Detroit’s main road, Woodward (M-1) runs through City as well.
